Elon Musk’s Striker… Up to KRW 162.7 trillion will be invested in SpaceX-Tesla joint venture ‘Terrafab’
/ Elon Musk will collaborate with SpaceX and Tesla to build a large-scale semiconductor plant called ‘Terrafab’ in Texas. Starting at a minimum of $55 billion worth of about 75 trillion won, the total investment is expected to reach up to $119 billion worth about $162.7 trillion.
/ TerraFab aims to support 1 terawatt computing power per year by producing state-of-the-art chips with a 2-nanometer process. Musk’s self-sufficiency strategy is to acquire chips for AI, robotics, and space projects.
/ SpaceX is currently in talks with semiconductor equipment companies and has also agreed to build a joint research facility with Intel in Texas. SpaceX is preparing for a $75 billion IPO, while Tesla continues its full investment, including a significant increase in capital expenditures.
/ This project is evaluated as challenging existing foundry companies such as TSMC and Samsung Electronics. Overcoming technical difficulties and securing yield are expected to be the key to success with the goal of mass production in 2028.
