What kind of functions will the robotaxi come out with?
- We expect to see a physical prototype of Robotaxi: Robotaxi. We also believe that the model will have a Cybertruck-like futuristic feel without steering wheels, pedals, and mirrors. The unveiling also includes Robotaxi’s “demo,” which is called through Tesla’s ride-hailing app to showcase autonomous features by steering a kind of track or path.
- Model 2: The $25,000 Model 2 (also known as Model A) will be demonstrated and the prototype won’t work. I expect this vehicle to share similarities with the Robotaxi. The Model 2 has a steering wheel, pedal, and mirror, but it doesn’t require FSD to work. The body is distinct from the Robotaxi, but overall it uses the same production method as the Robotaxi.
- Cybervan: Elon is expected to unveil plans for a fully autonomous van (Robotaxi XL for 8-10 people), similar to the updated roadster driving behind Semi at the time of its launch. While passenger car vans will weigh in on Tesla’s sleek signature design, they will also weigh in on leveraging autonomy for their vehicle-sharing vision of reasonably priced transportation. The vehicle will focus on dense urban areas and play a role in the future of public transportation, which is expected to expand the ride-hailing market by 20%.
