According to the TV Chosun report above, my client, I would like to tell you about the relationship between the privacy and personal information of Mr. A, who filed a lawsuit against me.

Around June 2021, the client A visited the lawyer’s office. When I asked for a lawyer who can fight without fear with prosecutors and a lawyer who can widely tell our society about his injustice, he said he pointed out Shin Jang-sik.

Mr. A had already been convicted years ago and had completed his imprisonment. Mr. A said that prosecutors abused his staff in the course of the case, and the general public participated in it and asked him to relieve the injustice because he was convicted.

There was a vast amount of data to be reviewed as a number of cases were intricately intertwined, including those that had already been finalized. However, the abuse of authority by prosecutors also seemed obvious. To Mr. A, I asked 1) the Ministry of Justice to inspect the prosecutors => 2) the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit’s complaint against the prosecutors => 3) the criminal complaint against the general public => 4) the case was accepted with a deposit of 90 million won according to the results of the criminal complaint. Mr. A said that since it is difficult to pay the full amount of the deposit in batches, he would pay 30 million won for the first round of the deposit first and then pay it in installments by setting a time later. I accepted it with the idea that A’s unfairness should be resolved together.

However, after signing the agreement, Mr. A transferred only 20 million won to his mother’s name. Although the legal agreement had not been signed, I wrote an inspection request for five prosecutors and submitted it to the Ministry of Justice to resolve Mr. A’s injustice, and one after another, I wrote a complaint to the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit to file a complaint against the prosecutors.

I sent the draft of the complaint to Mr. A, but he did not approve the submission or pay the unpaid deposit, and when the call was made in a difficult way, I delayed the submission of the complaint to Mr. A, saying, “I’m consulting with another lawyer. The media is preparing an investigative report, so please wait a moment.” And I lost contact.

Earlier this year, three years later, Mr. A’s mother, identified only by her surname Lee, filed a petition against me with the Seoul Bar Association. And on March 11, the Seoul Bar Association made an unwritten decision on whether to conduct disciplinary deliberations or not. The Seoul Bar Association has decided not to start disciplinary deliberations.
