“The Heroic Narrative Structure of Storytelling Marketing: Elon Musk” – Longle

Starting with Tesla’s $TSLA shareholders’ meeting on Friday, the 14th, the results of the vote on several agendas will be decided along with the compensation plan for founder and CEO Elon Musk. This will likely determine Elon Musk’s future.

The current situation is full of oppression and jealousy of Elon Musk, which also poses a risk to Tesla, a publicly traded company where he is CEO.

Strangely enough, I think of Steve Jobs, now the late Apple $AAPL founder and CEO, in the context of Elon Musk. In a way, it’s deja vu.

Now that he is a late man, his achievements and greatness are the main reasons for his evaluation, but I remember that Steve Jobs went through a lot of criticism and trials during his life.

He was ousted from his company, Apple, and was evaluated as having a psycho-like personality by his antisocial personality. In addition, even when the iPhone was released, enthusiasts went crazy. Many in the market were not enthusiastic about it, and there were many criticisms that subsequent products were innovative.

Looking back now, Steve Jobs has become greater since he passed away, and there are significantly fewer people who deny that greatness.

In fact, I decided not to worry too much about the outcome of the vote. The market is trying to deny Elon Musk’s role and importance, but if he actually left Tesla without him, he would feel keenly that he was a red bean bread without red beans.

Of course, if Elon leaves, Tesla will go through a period of tremendous stagnation and pain during that hiatus, but I think this will paradoxically prompt Elon Musk’s return and further solidify his position.

Even if the Democratic Party of the United States retakes power and suppresses Elon Musk’s Tesla, the action will not last long. This is because Tesla is currently the only company that can block China’s challenge to technology hegemony and widen the gap. Perhaps the Democratic Party of Korea at the time has no choice but to support Tesla by crying and trying to justify it somehow.

One topic I was hooked on for a while a few years ago is the heroic narrative structure of storytelling marketing. It’s one of the structures of stories that people like since history.

Jonah Sachs explains how to make our favorite stories in his book “Story War,” which he says should be found in “The Myth” and “Hero’s Journey.” In other words, he says that we can make our favorite stories by making the narrative of the myth and the journey of heroes into the structure of the story. It will be easy to understand if you remember the story of Hercules and the Jumong myth.

The myth and hero’s journey loved by us has the following narrative structure.
First, it has an unusual secret of birth.
-Second, it shows extraordinary ability in the process of growth.
-Third, you will be jealous, jealous, framed, or faced with difficulties by those around you.
-Fourth, you will take a test that will lead to you going on a long journey or dying.
-Fiveth, meet a helper and overcome your situation.
Sixth, return to your hometown of gold or make your own world. Or become a god.

It’s not limited to stories. It also applies to real people, and those who have stories of life that satisfy them live and breathe forever through various ways of telling us stories such as heroes and great people.

Apple’s Steve Jobs is also satisfied with the previous six heroic narrative structures. Tesla’s Elon Musk is now in the process of meeting these six narrative structures. As of now, Elon Musk is experiencing a combination of 3&4 situations at the same time, and five situations are limited, but supported by friendly fandom individual shareholders and his friends Ron Baron and Cathie Wood.

The hero’s narrative must meet all librarian structures in order to be hailed by the overwhelming majority. Even though he was the subject of abuse and harassment, when the hero’s narrative structure is completed, he is also set to love the story.

Humans have always been the same since history.

Elon Musk, like Steve Jobs, the same entrepreneur and innovator, will become a real hero if he meets all the narrative structures. At that time, even the current reviled subjects will no longer denigrate him or stop criticizing him for no reason. A hero has always been that way. The process is just difficult.

Tesla shareholders, if you are a person who believes in and supports a long-term vision, can quietly help them believe in and support Elon Musk and his Tesla. That’s enough.

The rest is down to the hero.
