Since its recent start-up, it has been clearly confirmed that even a small team with fewer than 10 people can achieve results of dozens of people. Working with AI naturally lightens the organization.
Traditional support functions such as personnel, finance, and legal affairs are now completely replaceable with AI and minimal outsourcing. The conclusion is clear. The days of power are over, and overwhelming efficiency and speed are the only competitiveness now.
However, a paper with 100% the same view as my idea was published.
MIT and Harvard economists have published a paper stating that AI assistants can eventually dismantle the form itself of a company, referring to “Coasean Singularity.”
As Ronald Koz said in 1937, companies exist because the cost of market transactions is too high. The organization was created to reduce all the costs of finding, comparing, negotiating, and signing people.
But what if a personalized AI agent lowers all these transaction costs to near zero? You don’t have to go through a company.
Companies existed to eliminate costs, and now if AI removes those costs, companies lose their reasons.
If the 20th century was the era of giant companies, the 21st century is expected to be the era of reorganizing into a market that utilizes AI agents.
In other words, just as Homeplus in front of the house shut down because of Coupang, which has a cost-effective system, Coupang could one day shut down because of individuals buying things with zero-cost AI agents.
