Last week, I went to an event that featured Ferrari-certified used cars and Pacone Club sports racing cars. It was eye-opening, and it was time to learn about the sold-out car management program at our headquarters in Italy.
First of all, since the official import and salesperson of Ferrari in Korea is FMK (Forza Motors Korea), the official certified used car (Ferrari Approved Program) is also operated here. An analysis table created by trained technicians at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello while checking 201 items and driving them is provided.
What was interesting was the classification of cars sold according to the period. General models are subject to the certified used car program for up to 14 years after shipment, and special models are subject to the Ferrari Premium program for a period of 10 to 20 years. And if it exceeds 20 years, it will become a Ferrari Clashke, which is equivalent to a classic car in English, and is restored and certified by Maranello’s headquarters. That’s right, the cars we saw at the Universo Ferrari held at the DDP last year.
First of all, certified used cars will be provided with official warranty repairs and emergency dispatch services for up to 120,000km or 14 years after shipment, 24 months from the time of purchase of used cars. Of course, apart from this, you can also choose an additional program called Power 15, which is responsible for manufacturer guarantees for up to 7 years after shipment and engines/transmissions for 15 years.
All the cars on display were for sale. Originally, the certified used car store in Seongsu-dong was always seen on a bike tour to the east, and I was curious. All those cars came here.
The price? Among the cars indoors, the SF90 Stradale was priced at 760 million won. The yellow GTC4 Russo T in the picture is the cheapest at 260 million won, followed by the blue 488 Spider at 350 million won. The 812 GTS, which features a high-speed natural intake engine and a roof, is priced at 750 million won, which is still quite expensive. lol
And on the other hand, there was a 488 Challenge Evo model for the Pacione Ferrari Club Challenge. It’s actually a race car, but it’s more like a driving academy using top-notch racing cars rather than a competition. You learn with this car from famous tracks. Of course, you can also compete in one-maker races if you want. Starting next season, the latest model, the 296 Challenge, will be deployed. The race car on display has a sponsor mark in Korean. So it means they are participating in the war in Korea.
Launching a brand-new car is great, but these used cars and motor sports programs are very meaningful. Literally, it shows the maturity and diversity of the market. Some brands, especially Ferrari, have a long wait time to buy a new car, which means you can experience it beforehand and take a car that wasn’t available at launch. And finding the track to “run properly” is also a way to make sure you enjoy that brand and the car.
In fact, as an old person (?) I think of motorsports, races in which accessible cars are converted to conform to regulations, so competitions, are the first things I think of. However, recently in Korea, there are many opportunities to buy a track-only car, entrust it with management and operation, and simply enjoy running. This is the case with prototype races such as Radical and Russell. And the same goes for brands such as the Pacione Ferrari Club.
I hope these things will increase a lot. That way, we will create a strong and healthy car culture.
