Tesla FSD 12.5 Shortages
Before updating to 12.5.1 today, I’m trying to record the overall evaluation and shortcomings of 12.5 I’ve used for just 4 days.
The 12.5 has upgraded its driving ability to the next level. Now, beyond the skills of an ordinary driver, it has no problem driving a taxi.
However, there are a few things to be desired.
- Recognize road signs and speed signs
-The recognition rate of the speed limit signs written in numbers is lower than 12.3.6. In particular, I can’t read the 30km Play ground zone signs in my neighborhood well. (Awareness rate of about 50%)
-I can hardly read signs in the form of letters or threadballs. However, the Yeld sign of an inverted triangle was not recognized in 12.3.6, but it seems to be recognized in 12.5.
-I think it’s essential to recognize all forms of road signs and I believe I’m already learning. - exiting an intersection on an urban highway
-This is much worse than 12.3.6. Maybe it’s less optimised with navigation or maybe it’s because the Highway Stack hasn’t been integrated yet, but very often I try to change lanes late instead of changing lanes before entering intersections and miss the intersections I want.
-In urban driving, we change lanes in advance according to the route, but on the high way, we don’t already change lanes. Why…
-I believe this will also be solved through training or integration. The question of time
3.Trying to cut in due to lack of patience
-If you have to make a left turn and you’re backed up, you have to wait patiently behind the car in front of you, but this guy’s FSD is impatient and doesn’t wait behind the pushed lane.
-If there is a little traffic jam, you will move to the next lane and try to cut in. If it’s not easy to cut in, try too hard at the last minute, and if it’s severe, you won’t hesitate to violate the signal. This is not something we’re talking about in oral mode. The same is true of standard or comfort mode.
-The problem of lack of patience is all from 12.3.6 to 12.5, and I don’t know how much Tesla recognizes it.
- FSD-only navigation
-Now, the problem in the driving process is considered a matter of time because it has almost been solved or knows how to solve it. However, the lack of navigation cannot be solved without establishing its own navigation dedicated to FSD.
-Since there is no speed limit on the road or various traffic signs information on the navigation system, and there is not a lot of information such as detailed maps of parking lots, parking restrictions, and one-way traffic, perfect robotaxi is too difficult.
-Currently, only traffic light locations and stop sign locations are stored in the navigation system, but the FSD-only navigation system must include necessary road speed limit information and a lot of traffic information.
-I think Tesla is already building a dedicated map.
I wonder how much it will be solved in 12.5.1.
