Tesla FSD Reverse Experience Mid-Term Review

Tesla FSD Reverse Experience Mid-Term Review

Day 4 of FSD reverse experience. So far, I ran 702 miles for 4 days. Seoul->Busan->Seoul->Busan. In conclusion, I am physically and mentally tired. I feel like I am working hard. Still, I would like to talk objectively about reverse experience on a big scale.

  1. mental/physical fatigue from driving
In my opinion, the main reason driving makes a person tired is that it makes them use their brain constantly and the body nervous. First, when you drive, you have to use your brain constantly, such as speed control, driving route check, lane change, spacing between the car in front and the car next to you. Computers also feel tired, fever, and sometimes shorten lifespans when running operations 24 hours a day. I don’t think it’s any different for a person. At the end of the day, my brain is doing another extra work at a time when it needs to rest. However, I don’t think using the brain like this is a productive thing in our lives. Then let’s think about it here. Among the various factors that require using the brain while driving, I hope you imagine how convenient it can be if you only pay attention to the surrounding vehicle. This is why I was not tired the other day even after 16 hours a day of round trip to and from LA San Francisco.
Also, in order to prepare for an accident that may occur at any time from a physical point of view, tension flows throughout the body without knowing. This can be seen immediately when not using FSD. The first thing I felt was that tension was flowing in the hands, arms, and mitral muscles. In particular, when I drive on the highway, I can feel the difference more clearly. You may say, “I’m a driving veteran, so I drive without effort,” but no. I was a driver who enjoyed not only acrobatic driving but also speed as you can see in the video I uploaded before, after more than 20 years of driving. By the way, after using FSD for a month, I could clearly feel the difference. I am in power without knowing it. And, because the road condition in California is worse than in Korea, the fatigue is at its peak as the vibration caused by driving on the rough road surface is transmitted to the hands, arms, and whole body. I never did that when I used FSD, but when I drove by myself, I started stretching when I got out of the car.
  2. Driving skills FSD vs me
Objectively, I would like to evaluate that v12.3.4 and my driving skills are similar. Of course, some Edge Cases and late judgments in not difficult situations definitely need to be improved. However, there are several factors for me to evaluate that FSD’s driving skills are on par with mine.
The first is a wide field of view. Humans have to rely on both eyes to secure vision. Therefore, keep moving your body to the left and right and behind the vehicle, and the rear mirror, side mirror, sometimes when you turn your body to check. In other words, a parallax occurs in securing the view and a blind spot occurs momentarily. However, FSD simultaneously secures a 360-degree field of view using eight cameras. It also secures the view where it is blocked by objects. As can be seen in various videos, it is difficult to secure a view with the human eye when intervening, etc., due to a stopped vehicle or object, but FSD can confirm that the hidden part also secures the view. This is a great advantage in accurate situational judgment, which is a very important ability in driving. Nevertheless, my situational judgment is still faster than FSD. However, while blind spots have potential risks for me, FSD has the potential to jump over me at some point through training.
The second is driving consistency. I think driving consistency is a very important factor in giving passengers a sense of ride and stability. When using FSD, I thought that the speed control ability of the FSD or the distance control from the car in front of it was lower than that of me, but it was not. Since it is difficult for a person to maintain consistent concentration throughout driving, it is impossible to stop and go while maintaining a constant distance from the car in front of him during a traffic stop. Sometimes it starts late and sometimes it starts fast…And, even during high-speed driving, they try to maintain a constant speed by pressing the Excel and then applying the brake. However, since FSD is a machine, it is accurate and constant in that respect. That part gives a sense of stability and comfort than when a person drives.
The third is a driving habit that prioritizes safety. As you’ve seen in many videos, FSD always drives with a yield. I can afford it. However, I have an instinct to go fast even though I have time. Then, I end up zigzagging and acrobatic. There are stories about FSD changing lanes often, too. I’ve experienced that. However, it’s not like I’m dangerously stepping in. And, it’s nothing compared to me changing lanes.
Fourth, because I am an unpredictable driver. From another driver’s point of view, I am an unpredictable driver. It means a potential accident-inducing driver. Many human drivers will. On the other hand, FSD is predictable. There are no cases of overdoing it. Rather, go back… and be very conservative in judging the situation. Sometimes, to the point of being slow in judgment or to the point of being too cautious… From a safety point of view, this is better.
Lastly, it is a passenger’s evaluation. The kids didn’t know I was FSD Strike-Out. So, I asked them drop-off. How was driving today?…. Everyone responded the same way, but why. In other words, I didn’t know whether I drove or FSD drove. Not long ago, I uploaded a comparison of two driving videos of me going to the Express Car Wash. It’s the same driving course, but it’s difficult to easily distinguish whether I drove it or whether it was FSD driven it by looking at the video. Even if you classify it, you can see that there is little difference in driving skills. Next time, there is no difference in meandering
