It is necessary to whitewash Korea’s nuclear power plant.
Kang Chang-ho, Head of the Fair Trial Monitoring Team for Wolseong Unit 1 / Nuclear Technician
The Moon Jae In government’s regressive post-nuclear policy has caused more than a few aftereffects of the nation’s nuclear power industry. The High-Level Anti-Block Act, introduced at the last extraordinary session of the National Assembly in February, has not even crossed the threshold of a subcommittee on legislation by the National Assembly’s Industrial Committee for more than a year. Opposition parties have maintained their opposition to the High-Level Anti-Block Act, calling it a nuclear power plant policy of the Yoon Suk Yeol government, while the ruling party has called for the opposition’s cooperation, calling it a vital legislation for future generations. With about a month until the general election, however, virtually the 21st National Assembly has come to an end.
Energy is the foundation of a country’s economic development and security. We are well aware from the Moon Jae In government’s study of nuclear power plants that nuclear power is the cheapest, safest, and most eco-friendly energy source among practical means. However, the Democratic Party, which has become the host of the nuclear power plant parasite, continues its policy to exterminate eco-friendly nuclear power without chimneys by partnering with non-nuclear power plant organizations such as environmental shamans to represent the interests of fossil fuels by using renewable energy.
Nuclear power is protected and nurtured at the national level, and support from the National Assembly is absolutely required to benefit the country and future generations. Although lawmakers belonging to the People’s Power oppose the post-nuclear policy, they are less responsive to the Democratic Party’s false incitement and tend not to come forward properly because of their face. In particular, lawmakers in local districts where nuclear power plants are located are more wary of some voices opposing nuclear power plants than telling the truth.
However, the Democratic Party is still repeating its false incitement by treating the people as “虎口” without giving up its lingering affection for ending the nuclear power plant. Therefore, it is necessary for a lawmaker to boldly counter false incitement with an indomitable attitude of protecting the people and the country by letting someone burn their whole body.
President Yoon Suk Yeol’s first national task was to establish a decent country with restored common sense, and to this end, the Yoon Suk Yeol government put forward the third national task of “abolishing the nuclear power plant policy and strengthening the ecosystem of the nuclear industry.”
However, even after two years of presidential term, effective measures for the ecosystem of the nuclear industry are not being properly operated by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power in the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
In order to revive and restore the nuclear industry, which has been shaken to the root by the Moon Jae In government’s denuclearization policy, ① Systematic supplementation for active use of nuclear power plants ② Strengthen competitiveness of the nuclear power plant ecosystem ③ Rapid enactment of special laws for the disposal of high-level defense waste ④ Improve the Korea-U.S. nuclear agreement to the level of alliance ⑤ Securing the next generation nuclear power plant technology and future nuclear power plant technology should create an environment to properly implement President Yoon Suk Yeol’s national affairs at the National Assembly level so that he can lay the foundation for realizing carbon neutrality in 2050.
The most urgent thing to do in the 22nd National Assembly is to re-impose the “Special Act on High-Level Radioactive Waste” to ensure that high-level waste is safely managed for the safety of the people and quickly enact legislation that will minimize damage to global economic activities by nuclear power plant-related companies.
Since numerous laws were distorted to enforce the nuclear power plant policy in the second Moon Jae In government, the basic work of energy-related laws should be carried out by promoting the revision of these laws to restore freedom and market economy principles.
The third nuclear energy field is a difficult specialized field, making it extremely difficult to secure social acceptance. Despite the enormous resident support measures under the current Act on Support for Areas Around Power Plants, nine attempts have been made to build a high-level waste disposal site due to the interference of a nuclear power plant agitator disguised as eco-friendly, but all have failed. Therefore, we should actively refer to the case of the Fesenheim Regional Intelligence Committee in France to communicate with local residents on the premise of transparency information disclosure about nuclear power, and increase public acceptance through transparent communication with local residents.
The Korea-U.S. nuclear alliance that collapsed by the Moon Jae In government, which pursued the fourth nuclear disarmament policy, must be restored. China and Russia swept all nuclear power plant orders around the world during the Moon Jae In administration, and our nuclear disarmament policy ended up helping the communist camp.
The Yoon Suk Yeol government belatedly cooperated with the United States to advance into the overseas nuclear power plant market, but the Moon Jae In government’s post-nuclear power plant blanks allowed the United States to dominate the nuclear power plants in Poland and Blgaria. In order to enter the future nuclear power plant export market, such as the Czech Republic and Romania, cooperation between Korea and the United States should be strengthened to raise the nuclear power plant cooperation between Korea and the United States to the level of equal alliance.
Thus, the role of the National Assembly is absolutely required to strengthen cooperation for the promotion and export of the nuclear industry in the global market.
Additionally, the nuclear power plant ecosystem must be restored, and the energy industry market must be rectified as a result of the Moon Jae In administration’s nuclear disarmament. Furthermore, by 2050, President Biden, the Democratic Party of the United States, has announced that nuclear power plants will be tripled. However, the Republic of Korea’s Democratic Party, like the subversion forces, is attempting to eliminate the cheapest, safest, and most eco-friendly energy sources.
Woo Won-sik and Kim Sung-hwan, representative lawmakers of the Democratic Party of Korea’s post-nuclear energy generation, should be judged sternly in this general election, and in the ruling party, a courageous person should advance to the National Assembly against them.
